Battery Park City

Neighborhood Boundaries: West Street to the east; the Hudson River to the north, south and west

Subways: None within the neighborhood’s geographical boundaries, but buses, pedestrian bridges and crosswalks provide access to subways in the Financial District across West Street

Architecture: New development mid-rises and high rises

What I Like Most About It:

Even though it’s located just across West Street from the Financial District, Battery Park City feels like it’s a world away from the typical hustle and bustle of downtown Manhattan. Boasting ample green space in the form of parks and the Battery Park City Esplanade, as well as stunning views of the Hudson River, the neighborhood is little oasis at the tip of the island. And nowadays, the area features even better neighborhood amenities, thanks to the opening of Brookfield Place – home to Le District and Hudson Eats as well as tons of high end retail (Gucci, Burberry, Hermes and Saks Fifth Ave to name just a few).
