You can bet that there are also some incredible spots in NYC where book lovers can spend their hard earned dollars on books.  Today we’ll roam around Brooklyn to bring you some wonderful spots in and beyond Park Slope where bookish Brooklynites can find page turners.

1. Community Bookstore

143 7th Ave

This is the oldest bookstore you’ll find in Park Slope. It’s been around since 1971 and has a fascinating and diverse selection of books: classics, contemporary, and fiction, as well as wonderfully friendly staff. You can also enjoy their gorgeous garden, where they host readings and events. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of their almanac of New York City. It’s got so many wonderful tidbits of information about what to expect in NYC for each month plus insightful, enjoyable quotes from famous residents, past and present.

2. The Ripped Bodice

218 5th Ave

If you adore romance novels, you’ve hit the jackpot with this shop. The Ripped Bodice is the only exclusively romance bookstore in NYC, and you can find a diverse collection of titles, from historical to paranormal, from sweet to steamy. There‘s also many accessories, gifts, and apparel related to romance. And they have a loyalty program so you can get rewards for your purchases.

Opened in 2017 by author Emma Straub and her husband, this fun bookstore has a bright and inviting atmosphere, with colorful murals and decorations. You can find many types of books here, from bestsellers to indie gems, from children’s books to graphic novels. They also have a lively calendar of events, featuring readings, discussions, and parties.
